I listened intently to President Obama's State of the Union speech yesterday. The man is clearly a gifted orator. He stressed the need for cooperation between Democrats and Republicans on the big issues facing our country: the economy, climate change and health care reform, but where oh where was immigration? Finally, after the President was over one hour into his speech, I heard the word "immigration". One sentence. GC/485 is for a future job.So if your former employer is willing to not revoke your 140 and answer ability to pay issues if required,then i guess you can file 485 with your old employer.

California taxpayers need to cover higher fees of private lawyers, who are hired by the state as the Attorney General's Office doesn't have the staff to handle all of the cases internally. In some instances, the state has employed outside counsel at hourly rates that reach $450 even while most of its in-house lawyers earn less than half that. Rates can be much higher, if the suits require private attorneys having a particular expertise.
Since January 2008, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has signed about $24 million in contracts with private lawyers hired because the Attorney General's Office says it's too shorthanded to take the jobs. The corrections department is seeking the additional help despite having about 80 lawyers of its own to handle a gamut of cases, with about a dozen of those assigned to prisoner-filed litigation.

Higher salary is typically not a problem, especially if the job classification is still same as per LCA. If the job classification has changed, then its better to file for a new LCA. I had refiled LCA twice while on H1-B...

If you call USCIS 1800 number, and you ask the representative to raise a service request then they email the service center asking for details. Most of the time, personnel from service center will call back with the information that you have requested. If you learn there is a way you can email the service center, please post here.

Can anyone suggest if there is a way to check the priority date on a I-485 application after an interfile request has been made? I am not sure if a call to the Service Center is the only way, or if there is a form I can submit requesting this information.
The context of my question is this: My original I-485 application was filed based on a LC/I-140 approved by PERM with PD May 2005. But later, as part of backlog elimination, an older LC for me with PD Aug 2004 was cleared and my company's immigration law firm got another I-140 approved based on this earlier LC. They've told me that they contacted USCIS with a request to get my I-485 attached to the older PD. I would like to get this confirmed since a 9 month gap in PDs can easily translate to years more of waiting time.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help out or suggest if I should be doing anything different with getting the PD of my I-485 changed.

I am currently on H1B through company A previously I was working for Company B before that was working for Company C.
I transferred my H1B from C->B->A, Because of current Economy now my employer(Company C) is saying that if I lose my current project at client location he is going to cancel my H1.
If that happens can I go back to B Or C company, as My previous companies never cancelled my H1.
Appreciate any help here.

I am traveling to India after long time. The airline reservation requires me to provide my green card number. Can anyone tell me what that is? Is it A# number?
I tried entering the 9 digits of A# number on the airline website without a success, what is a right syntax?
AXXX-XXX-XXX or XXXXXXXXX without using �-�
I don�t want to submit wrong information.
Also, is it possible to provide this information at Check-In and not to worry about it now?
If anyone has done this before then let me know, any help is appreciated.

I have this thought. We start a letter campaign sending letters to all the house members: 1) To get them aware of Legal immigration and 2) To put our case fwd.
I feel it will be very effective as the flower campaign. Atleast most of us can participate in it, less expensive, less time consuming. And we can see why we wouldn't they respond to the bulk of mail they are getting every day.
I know we did letters through email etc. But i think sending through post will be different and they will be obligated to respond.
I do not know whether this is a good idea. so please dont rush at me.:)
