Hi Guys,
I was looking at the AP renewal instructions. It says:
1. If you are in the United States, you must attach:
a. A copy of any document issued to you by USCIS showing your present status in the United States; and
b. An explanation or other evidence showing the circumstances that warrant issuance of an advance parole document; or
c. If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment application;
d. If you are traveling to Canada to apply for an immigrant visa, a copy of the U.S. consular appointment letter.
So what I gather from this is that they need:
a) Our H1B status papers and the previous copies of the advanced parole documents.
b) A letter stating why we need the advanced parole.
c) The I-485 receipt copies.
Now it DOES NOT say anything about the photographs if you are filing within the US.
Can someone who has applied for the Advanced Parole (NOT the EAD), please share their experience and what documents are needed. The EAD filing seems to be elaborately covered.

I did the same thing for my PIO card from Houton consulate. Included the $20 fee and received my PIO card within a week by FedEx.

When will EB3 ROW become current, or current for YOU? The answer would be different depending on your exact question.
Without administrative and legislative changes, the answer to number one is "a very long time" and I think I'd be safe to say that is a conservative estimate. For the record, I'm also EB3 ROW, with a PD of early 2004. I would say that would be current in 3 or 4 years
There are roughly 200 countries in the world. It is very simple maths to figure out that 200 * 9800 (the 7% limit per country) = about 1,960,000. Its pretty obvious that this is much more than the limit of 140,000 total per annum.. and you begin to see why there is a problem. Sure - each country has a 7% theroetical limit, but not EVERY country will use that in a year. Of ROW countries, UK is pretty close to its 7% per year. Others, like Lichenstein are not (or they would all be in the US and the country would not be just one big vacation home)

the keyword is "certain", in skil that "certain" meany MS or PHD, what does this certain mean, it all depends on the definition of certain, it would be nice if the use the same definition of skil (masters and phd)

I have tried to convince people (Indians and some Chinese) to join IV. People don't. They don't believe IV has the capability to get anything done. A lot of people don't care if IV existed or not. They believe that Congress will get to it when it deems right. Core members were asking a few weeks ago if that is the message people are sending. Yes it is.
Yeah. We know that. A lot of people think IV cannot get anything done. IV never promised that we will cause CIR to happen. We never promised that we will cause SKIL to happen. They all happen, mostly on their own. IV's role is to add amendments when they come and remove provisions that hurt us. We did that successfully last year by getting the hard country cap removed. No one else was interested in removing the hard cap. It took a lot of co-ordination and lot of trips and lot of hard work to get it done. If that harmful provision had stayed, then the new quota of 650,000 in S 2611 would have been useless. People forget achivements of IV or think that it was negligible. Retrogression would have been exacerbated with hard country cap.
You are reading the message right. I don't want IV to die. I am suggesting people with leadership skills to come forward and get SOME F**KING RESULTS. That is what is needed. It is do or die situation.

We know that lot of visitors and members are being squeezed by their situation (exploiting employer, travel restrictions, naggin H4 spouse, no wage growth, no job mobility, no promotions) and that will end only when they get out of H1 and get GC. I am not a leader and I don't want to pretend that I am. I ask others who are not to step down and encourage the right people to take leadership positions.

If you take leadership, you need to do things locally like meeting with other people in your city, forming a group of 4-5 people and going and meeting your congressman. And if you want to be in IV core, then you have to call us on the phone number listed and we can see if you can add any value to core by doing things we routinely do, like content prep, website maint, travelling to DC for meetings, talking to other orgs etc. If you are up to the job, sure, why not. Anyone who considers themselves fit for IV core, please call us. We really do need help as we are overwhelmed.

The same thing that has caused us to fail last year, the same thing that caused industry to fail in getting H1 quota raised, the same thing that caused failure of Universities to get F4 visa for masters degree holders. And these guys have lobbying budget in millions? Why do you think they failed?
Whatever caused their failure, caused our failure too. In DC, issues are not debated and legislated based on morality and merits of those issues. They are taken up based on contemporary politics and other factors like lobbying, public attention, elections and political parties.
For example: Last year, they debated a constitutional amendment to ban flag burned in USA. And spent precious time of congress on debating it. How to you think that would have helped anyone? Even it had passed, what was the merit of the issue? Flag burned mostly happens outside USA. In USA people rarely burn US flags. So banning flag burning in USA is like banning metric system. Its meaningless. Yet, they spent time on it.
Read papers, read articles from other lobbying orgs and learn something. Legislations dont happen on their own because the issues carry weight and have merits. Merits have nothing to do with congressional action.
To quote a bestselling economist Steven Levitt :
"If morality is how we would like the world to work, economy is how the world actually works".
Same thing applies to US congress. They dont set their timetable of bills based on morality and merits. There are other factors.

First off, I don't appreciate your sarcasm @ 2 cents leading to a dollar. Secondly if your leader is going to scream at people who are not attending the meetings, this is only going to drive people away from IV. Unfortunately, as someone who has learnt it the hard way, using aggressive language (especially language which is a negative judgement on people's nature) does not get the work done at the end of the day. If there was a legitimate reason for not showing up, then it is fine. But if it was lethargy, low confidence in the success of the event or some other insignificant reasons, then logiclife's screams apply multiple times.
The public disclosure of "AMMA" as an apology to needhelp is commendable.

We should focus on spreading awareness about IV. I can't believe I was totally unaware of IV's existence until a month back. I haven't done much but felt strongly about what IV's doing. Me and my wife attended the rally and even contributed for the first time ever. We should brainstorm on how we can get more people on board and on how to transform members into contributors.

What is wrong with some one not agreeing to others? Only sheep walk in herds.
Disagreement should never be a reason to ban a person.

People have gotten used to buying things that have no value. Wherever donation boxes are putup or beggers stand , people put money. Come on one does not need to pay because a other guy is asking.
So its upto the individuals to donate. Personally I dont feel one can do much to accelerate the GC process. If you read the history you can comeup with a list of things that changed the way things got done in US!!

This is regarding the recent ( rather today's) enquiry with House Committee of Judiciary on SKIL bill, HR-5744. The bill is referred to Committee on Home land security.
They are on recess till Monday. The first step is to Mark up this bill on there calendar. That is very important. I do not know how we can influence them to do so.
We need to work specially with small group of House of rep under House of Committee on Homeland security. (www.HSC.house.gov).
I believe that chairman of this committee is the most powerful person; it is usually one man show.
We need to draft a letter specifying the chairman.

I will be drafting a personal letter and sending him by email, by post and fax.

Exactly my thoughts - we should try our level best to get one of these bills passed (Specter or Frist) with our clauses in it.
1. AC 21 clause reinstated or atleast have a fair distribution policy
2. I485 filing after a certain wait time.
If none of these bills pass this year, there is a chance we will be stuck for a long time in BEC/140 stage.
